Our commitment to people and sustainability

Increasing the use of battery energy storage is important to reduce the consumption of carbon-intensive fossil fuels, responsible for the damaging impacts of climate change.

Adjacent residents will be notified of the project milestones and FRV will make every effort to update neighbours and the community as we progress with our plans– it’s important to us that residents feel they have every opportunity to talk with us at all stages of the project.

FRV prioritises genuine engagement with the local community and its neighbours. Community engagement is ongoing, and our neighbours will be updated at key project milestones.

FRV intend to be a responsible and conscientious neighbour, accordingly its important that neighbour concerns are identified and acted upon appropriately.

It is important that questions and concerns raised by members of the community are identified and responded to appropriately. You can ask questions or provide comments to FRV directly here.

Social and economic benefits

The Terang Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project has created job opportunities during construction and operation. During construction 50 workers are expected to be employed and 1-2 jobs will be created to support the operation of the facility. The project will also need to be supported by a range of contractors to ensure its efficient and safe operation.

Environmental benefits

Electric grids are not designed to store energy, so electricity dispatched to the grid needs to balance electricity demand. Grid balancing becomes particularly difficult where unpredictable electricity sources such as wind and solar are introduced as their electricity production fluctuates. Grid-scale batteries such as the Terang BESS overcome obstacles presented by grid inflexibility and allow electricity to be generated at all times of the day when it is not normally available.
